Youngset’s Senior Class is led by Teacher Sandy and has a playful, engaging environment that encourages curiosity and independence. 

Children move freely about the room to explore the learning stations. Teachers and parent helpers are always nearby to answer the children’s questions, to help expand thinking and play or simply listen. On an ongoing basis, colors, letters, numbers, names, shapes and manners are covered through play in order to help children prepare for Kindergarten.

A Typical Day in the Senior Classroom

9:00 am - 12:00 pm
10:00-10:30 am

Outside or Gym Play.

10:30-10:45 am

Hand-Washing and Snack.

Parent Helpers arrive and receive instruction for the morning.

8:45 am

Arrival and Greeting. Teacher Sandy greets the children and directs them to the sink for handwashing. Sandy provides support transitioning into the classroom for those who may need it. Any particulars are communicated to teachers.

9:00 am

Free Choice. Children are free to explore activity centers. Children may go between classrooms as they choose. Helpers assist with arts & crafts, imaginative play, reading books, cars and trains, and games.

9:00-9:45 am

Morning Meeting. Parent helpers are introduced. The day’s activities are discussed and any important information is shared. Students participate in group activities such as; the calendar, weather, music and movement, singing and stories.

9:45-10:00 am

Classroom and Workshop Play. Children are divided into two smaller grounds, with some engaging in play in the classroom while others explore activities in the workshop.

10:55-11:30 am

Goodbye Circle. Teacher reads story aloud for closing circle followed by dismissal to Lunch Bunch or parent.

11:30-12:00 pm

Optional Lunch Bunch hour ($10).

12:00– 1:00 pm
